At Adirondack Mountain King Shepherds, we are dedicated to improving and developing the standard of this rare breed in conjunction with the American King Shepherd Club. We are a recommended American King Shepherd Breeder and an active supporter and member of the American King Shepherd Club. We are located in the beautiful Adirondack region of upstate New York on 120 acres of farm land, and at the present we are the only recommended American King Shepherd breeder in the tri-state area. All our dogs are raised in our home and are our family.
The King Shepherd dog is large, rugged, powerful and impressive, possessing great endurance and agility. Theses dogs were selectively bred to be large in stature and loyal and protective to their families. They are extremely intelligent and easy to train. Theses majestic dogs turn heads everywhere they go. They are considered a "rare breed" and recognized by ARBA the American Rare Breed Association and Rarities, North American Kennel club.
All our breeding dogs have had their hips tested by the PennHip method, This is a mutifaceted radiographic screening method for hip evaluation. The PennHIP method of evaluation is more accurate than the current standard in its ability to predict the onset of osteoarthritis (OA). Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease (DJD), is the hallmark of hip dysplasia (HD).
Our dogs have been 100% cleared of all hip diseases. We urge all potential King Shepherd owners to research the breed thoroughly and also to carefully select a Recommened American King Shepherd Breeder, that is in good standing with the one and only American King Shepherd Club.
